Flash Linux Flash Linux is a customised Linux distribution initially designed to be run directly off a 256Mb USB key or other (similar) forms of bootable flash memory. It has subsequently (also) become a Linux distribution that runs directly from a CDROM, typically known as a Live-CD. Frenzy Frenzy is a "portable system administrator toolkit," LiveCD based on FreeBSD. It generally contains software for hardware tests, file system check, security check and network setup and analysis. FRUSTIX FRUSTIX is a Linux OS which is distributed in an ISO image. You can burn it to a CD (443 MB) and place it in your CD drive. Booting from this CD gives you a complete basic Linux with some apps and some games. FuguIta FuguIta is a Live CD which was built from OpenBSD. G-ZyX G-Zyx is a Fedora based distribution with a collection of open source software that runs from a single CD/DVD. G-ZyX is the flagship manifestation of the ViROS distribution generation platform. Generations Linux Generations Linux is a GNU/Linux distribution that boots and runs completely from CD-ROM media. It includes a large base of powerful recent Linux software and desktop environments, including the lastest Linux kernel v,2.6, the K Desktop Environment (KDE) with office tools, games, multimedia, graphics, productivity, software development, Internet, and support for laptops. gNewSense gNewSense is derived from Ubuntu, and thus has most of the same functionality. There are a number of differences though, including: Firmware removed from kernel in main, Restricted removed, Ubuntu logos replaced, Universe enabled by default, and emacs, bsdgames, nethack and build-essential part of the default install. GNIX GNIX is a Morphix-based bootable live CD with support for the Galician (Gallego) language, as well as Spanish (Castellano). gNOX gNOX is a Linux Operating System that you run from a CD without the need for installing. gNOX is based on the Slackware Linux distribution. It is small in size, just under 200MB, and can be burnt onto a 8cm mini-cd. JayOS JayOS is a live CD OS distribution based on Linux From Scratch. It aims to be a stable base for those who want to customize their own x86 or PowerPC-based distribution, but is also intended for use as a non-intrusive mobile workstation environment. It features Linux 2.6 kernel, unionfs, filesystem encryption, many network security tools, UML, and QEMU. Also included is standard desktop software. JayOS separates itself from other live CDs by using ramdisks and filesystem encryption to create a more secure mobile environment. Jinx Linux Jinx is a minimalistic graphical operating system for use on old computers with 64MB RAM. Suitable for desktop, business, and library use. It includes a browser, office applications in a 50MB ISO. Joatha Joatha is an Arabic live CD Linux distribution. It was established in June 2005 by a Saudi Engineer as an Arabic remaster of Kanotix. Kaboot Kaboot Komplete has everything an average user needs, the familiar KDE for the desktop, Open Office 2.0, Thunderbird and Firefox along with many other useful applications and a host of desktop games. Kaboot Lite Kaboot Lite uses Openbox as the Desktop Environment and is a compact OS able to boot into a window manager using minimal memory. Kaella Kaella is adapted from Knoppix and modified to work with the French language. It is not a fork because it is rebuilt with each new version of Knoppix. Kurumin Linux Kurumin Linux is a distribution based on Debian via Knoppix and Kanotix. Its main features are the advanced hardware auto-detection (inherited from Knoppix), Brazilian Portuguese language and content and ease of use. La Kaella La Kaella (Knoppix Linux Azur) is a French effort at remastering the Knoppix live CD with a complete support for French. LernTux LearnTux is a German Linux live CD with a collection of educational software. The latest version is based on Mandriva Linux 2007. LG3D-LiveCD LG3D-LiveCD is a SLAX-based LiveCD using Sun's Project Looking Glass 3D desktop environment. It is mainly intended for demonstration purposes and contains only a small selection of software. It is possible to install it onto a 256 MB USB flash drive. To run it, you will need a supported video card (most recent NVidia cards will do; full-screen mode is disabled with ATI cards). Linguas OS Linguas OS is a Linux live CD that includes OpenOffice.org, Omega T, Evince, and other basic tools that translators use on a daily basis for translation work. It includes Internet browsing and e-mail software. LinspireLive! LinspireLive! is a LiveCD of Linspire which contains the complete Five-0 feature set. Linux DaVinci An Italian LiveCD derived from SLAX. LinuxConsole LinuxConsole is a live modular Linux meta-distribution which includes OpenOffice, servers, firewall, music tools, and scanning/printing/faxing tools. LiveCd 'basilisk' LiveCd 'basilisk' is a Fedora Core 3 based Livecd with KDE 3.3.1, Gnome 2.8, OpenOffice, Fire- and Thunderbird and a lot of other tools. Has XFCE-4 as the Desktop Manager. < 50MB. MADbox Live MADbox Live is based on Mandriva. MaLiGNUz MaLiGNUz is dubbed 'The Slackware live for geek'. It uses the 2.4.6 Linux kernel. Mandriva Move Built on the Live-CD technology, Move enables you to run a full operating system from just one CD, anywhere, without the need for installation. Move is truly mobile. This is the only product of its kind to offer built-in handling of USB keys, allowing for automatic and seamless backup of configuration settings, as well as user data, up to 1.5 GB. MCNLive MCNLive is a complete operating system running from CD or USB stick. It is based on Mandriva Linux and designed for desktops and notebooks. Included software for all your needs: internet applications, office suite, networking tools, multimedia software. MCNLive operates in a so-called live mode. Mentoppix Mentoppix is a Live CD remastered from Knoppix by Mento (Galuh Prasetyawan). mGSTEP Live CD mGSTEP 0.536 is also available on a Linux-2.4.24 bootable Demo CD. Microdrive Microdrive is a tiny (3MB) live CD distribution and a set of scripts that generate it using isolinux, busybox, and your host system. An initrd image allows you to modify it to your hearts content. It is based on busybox, isolinux and slackware. MiniKazit MiniKazit is small enough to fit on a MiniCD (180MB). MiniKazit is based on Morphix, base module version 0.4-1e and Debian Sid. MIOLUX MIOLUX ia a Brazilian distribution based on Knoppix. MooLux MooLux is a Slackware-based GNU/Linux distribution which focuses on Internet applications, multimedia and programming tools. It is a complete system with software for Internet browsing, mail, chat, multimedia and office, game as well as for programming in C, Perl, and Python. The main objectives of MooLux Linux are to be simple and one task one application, be a complete development and desktop environment such KDE and to be small enough to fit on a 393MB ISO image. Myah Myah is built on Kernel 2.6.11, KDE 3.4, NVU 1.0, Gimp 2.2, Realplayer 10, Firefox 1.0.4, and OpenOffice 2 Beta. Myah is a Live CD based on Slackware with the Linux-Live scripts. Myah boots completely on it's own into the root user without a password. NimbleX NimbleX is a small but versatile operating system which is able to boot from a small 8 cm CD, USB, HDD and even LAN. It has a graphical interface and also a lot of built in software for browsing the internet, writing documents, listening to music, playing movies and many more. Pardus Live CD Pardus Live CD is a bootable CD edition of the Pardus National Operating System. It is distributed to the participants of Akademik Bilisim in Gaziantep University (Turkey). Parsix Parsix GNU/Linux is based on Knoppix and Debian Sarge. It uses Gnome as its default desktop environment. It even runs right off the CD so you can try it without installing. Santa Fe Desktop is based on the Debian distribution. Sauver Sauver does require a minimal hardware to work properly. It depends on what you want to use Sauver for. The most important thing is memory. You need at least 32 MB of RAM to boot Sauver. Scale-RT Real-time Linux with Live-CD The SCALE-RT platform contains a fully tested and validated Linux distribution based on the Debian kernel. Stux target is to build a Live CD similar to KNOPPIX but based on Slackware Linux. Syxoo Bizniz Syxoo Bizniz Linux is based on Kubuntu, which autodetects more modern hardware. Syxoo Bizniz Linux is customized to be used in a small or big business envirement. Taprobane GNU/Linux Taprobane is a convenient GNU/Linux distribution based on Debian. It is a live CD, but can be installed, manual copying for the moment, to persistent media.
