Linux thin client specialist Igel has created a Linux operating system image for a rugged panel PC designed for vehicle-mounted and industrial applications. The Igel-5310 LX Premium Image works with Glacier's Everest PC (pictured), available with a 600 MHz Celeron or 1.4GHz Pentium M processor.

    bbweather is a tool which displays the current weather conditions in an decorated window, simulating the look of the Blackbox toolbar

    clweather is a no bloat, no frills implementation of wmweather for the command line. The GUI, as well as many other features, has been stripped out. It will display weather information to stdout.

    netmap creates network weather maps based on existing images creaetd by other software. It uses SNMP to collect data from other devices and it does not depend on MRTG or any other statistics program.
  • open2300
    open2300 is a package of software tools that reads (and writes) data from a Lacrosse WS2300/WS2305/WS2310/WS2315 Weather Station. It includes a function library for your own programs and a number of small programs for PHP webpage, Weather Underground and Citizen Weather. Most of Open2300 is written in standard C.
  • PHP Weather
    PHP Weather makes it easy to show the current weather on your webpage. All you need is a local airport, that makes some special weather reports called METARs.
  • Snowpath formation simulation
    At rural colleges and similar settings, people form very distinct paths in the snow as they walk across open spaces. This program models that process. The evolving condition of the snow is displayed graphically. Snowpath may be used as a screensaver.

    Temperature.app is a Window Maker applet which fetches local temperature information every 15 minutes from ftp://weather.noaa.gov and displays it (in Celsius or Fahrenheit).

    vproweather is software and article describes how to get weather data from a Davis Vantage Pro Weather Station to one or more html web pages via a Linux server.
  • weatherspect
    weatherspect provides a reasonably accurate simulation of what the weather looks like outside, in ASCII art. It includes rain, snow, lightning, sleet, and hail.
  • wmFrog
    wmFrog is a weather dockapp for use in Window Maker or blakbox/fluxbox. It shows the cloud cover (sunny, partly cloudy. etc.), precipitation (snow, light rain, etc.) the temperature, the wind direction/speed, and the humidity.
  • wmweather+
    wmweather+ downloads the National Weather Serivce METAR bulletins, ANV and MRF forecasts, and any weather map for display in a WindowMaker dockapp.
