(commercial) An interactive multimedia file manager and manipulation program. CompuPic allows you to efficiently view, manage, catalog, and convert over 30 graphics formats.

  • CD Detect & Execute
    CDDE is a program that detects when a CD/DVD-ROM drive has a disc inserted. When it finds a disc inserted in the drive it will attempt to determine the type of disc, and execute a specified command. This means a DVD can be inserted and your favorite DVD software will start, or a data CD can be automatically mounted, etc.
  • CD-ROM Digest MD5
    CD-ROM Digest is a program that checks a multi-track CD-ROM. It reports the MD5 digest and size for each track on a CD-ROM. The digest is done as the track is read, without dumping CD-ROM data on the hard drive. This tool helps users that are burning a multi-track CD-ROM to check the result.
  • cddetect
    cddetect detects the types of CDs and DVDs without mounting them. It can detect audio, ISO, VCD, SVCD, DataDVD, and VideoDVD.
  • cdrom_speed
    cdrom_speed allows you to decrease your CDROM drive speed.
  • cdsetspd
    cdsetspd allows querying and setting the reading speed of Plextor CDROMs, and whether the drive is to slow down on read errors.
  • cdstatus
    cdstatus is a tool for diagnosing cdrom drive, and cd problems. It will query the drive status, and report what the system thinks the status is.
  • cdtool
    cdtool is a free software package to control the audio functions of an attached CDROM drive from the command line in a quick and scriptable way. cdtool consists of several programs.
  • datapacker
    datapacker is a tool to group files by size such that they fill fixed-size containers (called "bins") using the minimum number of containers. This is useful, for instance, if you want to archive a number of files to CD or DVD, and want to organize them such that you use the minimum possible number of CDs or DVDs.
  • dvdisaster
    dvdisaster provides a margin of safety against data loss on CD and DVD media caused by scratches or aging.
  • EzISO
    EzISO is a KDE solution to let ordinary users mount .iso CDROM images as virtual CDROMs in their home directory. EzISO takes care that also normal users are allowed to mount iso images, automatically creates a new mount point for each new ISO image.
  • gWineCD
    gWineCD is an application that can helps to eject and close cdrom/dvdrom tray programmatically.
  • ISOmorphin
    ISOmorphin is an ISO mounting manager for GNOME. It can mount/unmount, with a list of ISOs that can be mounted, and mount DVD ISOs with autoplay in you favorite player. There is no need to have root access for mounting (mount is done via FuseIso, so ISO, BIN, NRG, IMG, and MDF are supported). Conversion from extra image formats to ISO and ISO creation from files or media are supported.
  • KCDSpeed
    KCDSpeed is a little applet for K Desktop Environment's panel. It provides a quick and handy way to change CD-ROM read speed, and it can also eject and close tray, and mount/unmount disc.
  • Mount ISO image
    This script and servicemenu allow you to right click an ISO image and mount it to a directory. While mounting systems which are not included to fstab is allowed only to root, you have to enter root password once the script asks for it.
  • plextor-tool
    plextor-tool is a small console utility for setting certain parameters of Plextor CD-ROM drives. Currently users may change the speed of the drive the time before the drive spins down and three bits controlling the spin-down/error behaviour.
  • Poisson Media Recovery
    Poisson Media Recovery can be used to retrieve slightly damaged files from CD-ROM media.
  • readISO
    readISO is a utility for reading ISO9660 and other format CDROMs into image files.
  • rewrite
    rewrite is a file, feeding its content through a shell command or a pipeline, and writes it back to the file.
  • rslink
    rslink is a GTK based application to control 2 200-disc sony changers.
  • Set CD-ROM Speed
    Set CD-ROM Speed is a KDE program for setting a CD or DVD drive's speed (for example in order to decrease the noise it causes).
  • wbumount
    wbumount helps to find out, which processes block unmounting or ejecting devices (such as cdroms, usb-harddisks).
  • wmcdrom
    wmcdrom is a dock application for WindowMaker. When launched wmcdrom creates a 48 x 48 pixel showing a CD ROM (centered in a 64 x 64 pixel tile).
  • xorriso
    xorriso maps file objects from POSIX compliant filesystems into Rock Ridge enhanced ISO 9660 filesystems and allows session-wise manipulation of such filesystems. It can load the management information of existing ISO images, and it writes the session results to optical media or to filesystem objects. This is the standalone version which incorporates the libraries of libburnia-project.org and thus depends only on Linux 2.4 (or later), libc, and libpthread. No separate mkisofs and no CD/DVD burn program are needed.
