Zenoss Core – based on the Zope application server

Zenoss (Zenoss Core) is an open source application, server and network management platform based on the Zope application server. It provides an integrated product for monitoring availability, performance, events and configuration across layers and across platforms.

This software provides a web interface that allows system administrators to monitor availability, inventory/configuration, performance and events.

Besides being built upon the Zope Application Framework, Zenoss Core also relies on MySQL, RRDtool, Net-SNMP, and Twisted.

  • Monitors the availability of network devices using:
    • ICMP response testing.
    • SNMP response testing.
    • Testing of standard TCP/IP services (HTTP, SMTP, etc).
    • Testing of specified TCP/IP ports with regular expression matching.
  • Monitors network services (HTTP, POP3, NNTP, SNMP, FTP).
  • Monitors host resources (processor, disk usage) on most network operating systems.
  • Time-series performance monitoring of devices.
  • Event management tools to annotate system alerts.
  • Automatically discovers network resources and changes in network configuration.
  • Alerting system provides notifications based on rule sets and on-call calendars.
  • Supports Nagios plug-in format.
  • Virtual and Cloud Infrastructure Monitoring and Management.
  • Enterprise-ready architecture.
