Accessible-Coconut (AC) is a community driven Linux distribution which is completely accessible for persons with visual impairments.
it is based on Ubuntu MATE. The project’s goal is to develop an eyes-free desktop environment.
Some of the features of the distribution include:
- Screen reader using speech synthesis and Braille.
- Print reading – read printed books using a scanner in almost all the major languages in the world including English, Spanish, Hindi, Arabic, etc.
- Six key input – type text in any text field using only six keys of the keyboard with Braille knowledge in a Perkins Brailler mode.
- Console (TTY) screen reader.
- Accessible audio and video editing solutions.
- Screen magnification facility.
- Accessible disk management software.
- Typing tutor – improve typing skill in different languages of the world in a playful way.
- Lots of regular software including web browsers, office suite, internet messengers, email client etc.

What's a Linux distribution ("distro")? |
