amSynth – software synth with a classic subtractive synthesizer topology

amSynth is a two oscillator, real-time analogue modelling software synthesizer with a classic subtractive synthesizer topology.

Its operation is similar to analog Moog Minimoog and Roland Juno-60 synthesizers from the 1970s.

The aim was to keep the synth easy to use, so you can more easily get the sounds you want.

Features include:

  • Two analogue-style audio oscillators, featuring:
    • Sine wave.
    • Saw/triangle wave with adjustable shape.
    • Square/pulse wave with adjustable pulsewidth.
    • Noise generation.
    • “Random” wave (noise with sample & hold).
    • Oscillator sync.
    • Detune and range control.
  • Mixer section with ring modulation.
  • Analogue-style low-pass filter:
    • 24dB/octave curve.
    • Dedicated ADSR envelope.
    • Cutoff and resonance control.
    • Keyboard pitch tracking.
  • Amplifier with dedicated ADSR envelope.
  • Modulation LFO:
    • Up to 58Hz modulation.
    • Routable to all sections (pitch, filter, amplifier).
  • Effects:
    • High quality stereo reverb (freeverb).
    • Distortion/crunch.
  • Easy navigation and manipulation of presets.
  • Large library of presets.
  • Stand-alone application using JACK, ALSA or OSS
  • DSSI plug-in.
  • LV2 plug-in.
  • VST plug-in.
