FBReader is a slick e-book reader.
FBReader is fast and highly customizable. You can use external TrueType/OpenType fonts and custom backgrounds, the screen brightness can be adjusted while reading (slide finger up/down along the left screen edge), and different day/night colour schemes can be selected.
You can add custom OPDS catalogs such as Project Gutenberg (shown in the middle image below).

Other features include:
- Formats supported: ePub (including main features of ePub3), Kindle azw3 (a.k.a. mobi), fb2(.zip). Other supported formats: RTF, doc (MS Word), HTML, plain text. DjVu books and PDF support are available via plugin.
- Synchronize your library, bookmarks, and reading positions via a Google Drive based cloud service.
- Integration with external dictionaries, including ColorDict, SlovoEd, and Fora.
- Internationalization support with hyphenation patterns.
FBReader offers a good range of features, supports the main formats, and is fast and frugal with system resources.
Sadly many useful features such as built-in support for PDFs, text-to-speech and Google Translate / Yandex integration require the premium version (requires a payment). But the free version offers sufficient functionality.
This reader is available for many operating systems besides Android including Linux.
FBReader scored 8.1 in our Linux e-book reader roundup beaten to the top spots by Foliate, Calibre, and Sigil.
