In Operation
Here’s an image of Carbon Player in action showing a listing of a local library. It’s probably best summarized as a rather drab interface offering a fairly poor UI experience.
Most of our music collection is encoded in FLAC, a hugely popular lossless format. Sadly Carbon Player doesn’t support FLAC. That’s a showstopper in our book.
The software offers standard playback functionality including shuffle mode, repeat, media keys shortcut. It’s also possible to search for songs by their name. There’s playlist support, and the program displays media metadata. All pretty much standard fare.
While the program claims support for streaming songs over the network via a URL, this didn’t work.
You can define multiple folders although in the absence of FLAC support this wasn’t needed for our purposes.
