cronopete – graphical backup utility based on Apple Time Machine

Summary

Cronopete is a very simple backup utility. It relies on the respected rsync tool for the underlying backups. We think making a backup program that’s really simple to use is a good idea for someone who has very basic backup requirements. And it definitely helps to encourage users to actually make backups.

Cronopete cannot be used to backup a whole system, just your personal files.

If your data has value to you, making regular backups is a necessity. That practice is not, in itself, sufficient to protect your data. You actually need to test the backups to make sure they actually work.

Backup software should provide multiple options for restoring your data, including restoring to its original location or a different location under your control.
