In Operation
At the heart of electerm is a capable terminal emulator. There’s lots of customization available including a wide range of themes. There’s some graphics frippery not to our taste.
The left hand side hosts a vertical icon bar which offers a menu, new bookmark, history, terminal themes, settings, settings sync, and BatchOp.
Most terminal emulators don’t offer a UI for file management. electerm isn’t like a regular terminal emulator though.
A great array of services are available including ssh, telnet, serial, web, RDP, and VNC with a handy bookmark manager to help automate connections.
What else does electerm offer?
- Global hotkey to toggle window visibility (similar to guake, default is ctrl + 2).
- Built-in editor. Double click to directly edit (small) remote files.
- Global/session proxy.
- Authentication with publicKey and password.
- Quick commands.
- Sync bookmarks/themes/quick commands to github/gitee secret gist.
- Auto updating.
- Internationalization support.
Summary
electerm is a swiss-army type of terminal emulator which has a modern UI. It’s lacking some panache in some areas.
With a bit more spit and polish, electerm could rival the finest terminal emulators.
The project has amassed more than 10k GitHub stars.
