33 Excellent KDE Plasma Widgets (Updated 2022)

Last Updated on May 27, 2022

29. Panon

If you like graphics ostentation, Panon might be up your street. It’s an audio spectrum analyzer.

There’s lots of configuration options. You can define the frames per second, width, and gravity. There’s also a variety of visual effects. My video shows the default effect, but there’s lots of others to choose. It’s also possible to randomize colors, and change the color space.

The widget uses PortAudio as its backend. But there’s also PulseAudio and fifo.

30. Bouncy Ball

Bouncy-Ball

There’s always a place on my desktop for some candy. This widget is a bit of harmless fun suitable for all ages.

Drag the ball, and it’ll start bouncing on your desktop. It’s not going to make you more productive. But it’s a bit of a chuckle.

You can change the physics of the bouncing ball with configurable gravity, friction, and restitution. There’s sound support with configurable concurrent sounds, and strength of the bouncing. Auto-bounce is included.

31. Better inline clock

KDE Widgets: Better inline clock

This is another very simple widget. It’s a usual clock which keeps everything on a single line.

32. Show Desktop (Win 7)

KDE Widgets - Show DesktopThis is a fork of the default plasmoid. It removes the icon and changes the appearance to a flat thin button.

It can be configured to minimize all windows instead of “peaking” at the desktop, or to run a command. Scrolling over the button changes the volume, switch desktop, or any other command.

33. Compact Shutdown

KDE Widgets: Compact Shutdown

This applet offers fast and compact shutdown.

The available actions are shown in the image.

Compact Shutdown isn’t certainly going to set the world alight, but you might find it useful.

As they say, that’s all folks!

If we’ve missed a killer widget, please let us know in the comments section below. We are really interested to know the reasons why you feel your suggestion(s) should be included. A few amazing widgets are not included because they are no longer maintained or are difficult to get working with the latest release of KDE. Notable examples include Weather Widget, and YapStocks.
