Summary
Kup is simple backup software which is nicely integrated with the KDE Plasma desktop environment. It’s designed for backing up your personal files. If you’re running this DE, it might just be all your need if your backup requirements are basic. Functionality is very limited compared to many backup programs we’ve tested.
Kup uses bup or rsync, both of which are reliable and battle-tested software. Incremental backup archive uses bup. Synchronized folders use rsync.
Backup software should provide multiple options for restoring your data, including restoring to its original location or a different location under your control. Kup lets you restore backups.
