In Operation
The image below shows nook’s delightfully simple user interface. Not shown is the random mode option.
As you can see from the image below, there’s bags of customization available. We’re showing the default settings. The interface doesn’t let us expand the window, so we can’t show you the offline section in a single image.
The offline section reports that 1 out of 294 offline hour music files have been downloaded, and 0 out of 193 offline k.k. music files are downloaded. The interface lets us download all hourly music files and all k.k. music files, so that the program can fully function offline.
It’s pretty neat that we can customize the tune settings. Using the mouse wheel we can change any of the 16 notes effortlessly.
Summary
nook is beautifully presented. nook offers a slick interface with bags of customization. If you’re a fan of Animal Crossing and want familiar loops throughout the day, nook may well float your boat. It’s a welcome addition to our Candy series.
The software used to be available as a browser extension but the developer decided to release the program as a standalone desktop app given that he found the browser extension difficult to maintain.
Just like the Animal Crossing series, nook offers a high level of customization. It’d be even better if we could replace the hourly music with our own songs or Scruffy’s 24 looping songs that each play for an hour, giving you a wonderful 24 hour soundtrack.
