Machine Learning in Linux: Stability Matrix – Package Manager for Stable Diffusion

In Operation

The UI is stylish, polished, and a joy to use. There are so many nice touches to the interface.

In the image below, we’ve installed 13 packages, including a couple of training packages: FluxGym, which offers FLUX LoRa training UI with low VRAM support, and OneTrainer.

Each package installed with a single click. No fuss and bother. And all the packages work (unlike the AI installer app Pinokio). Just as easy a process are downloading models for these packages to use. The model browser integrates with CivitAI and HuggingFace to download and share models with the different inference engines. This means a model only needs to be downloaded once but can be used with any installed stable diffusion WebUIs).

At the left side of the interface are sections for Packages, Inference, Checkpoint Manager, Model Browser, Output Browser, and Workflows.

The “Checkpoint Manager” presents a list of downloaded models. Right-clicking on one opens the “Open in CivitAI” option, which lets you see the model’s recommended parameters.

The output browser offers a shared image gallery, the images you have generated from the packages.

Summary

Stability Matrix is super cool. It offers a one-click install for a raft of Stable Diffusion packages, it saves tons of disk space by sharing models between each package, and it makes it effortless to download the newest models courtesty of CivitAI and HuggingFace integration. The fact that you can move the data directory to a new drive or computer is rather useful.

If you want to use multiple instances of web UIs, Stability Matrix is a real time and disk saver. It’s a great way to stay organized.

There are a few awesome Stable Diffusion Web UI packages that aren’t included with Stability Matrix. For example, we are huge fans of Easy Diffusion and ImaginAIry.
