Marvin is an application launcher and much more.
The program uses different modules to provide different functionalities.
This is free and open source software.
Features include:
- Alias – add an alias for a certain option, that allows you to search it under a different name.
- Applications – start applications.
- Bookmarks – search through your Firefox and Chromium/Google Chrome bookmarks.
- Calculator – perform calculations using Math.js (and/or Algebrite).
- Clipboard – access your clipboard history.
- Color – convert colors between hex/rgb/hsl/hsv.
- Command – execute shell commands.
- Currency converter – quickly convert between currencies.
- Dictionary – quickly lookup definitions and synonyms for words.
- DuckDuckGo Instant – DuckDuckGo Instant Answers for your query.
- DuckDuckGo Search – DuckDuckGo Search results for your query.
- Email – quickly start writing a new email.
- Folders – browse files.
- History – execute recent options again.
- HTML – create custom HTML entries.
- Locate – search for files using locate.
- Scripts – create custom entries to execute shell scripts.
- Shortcuts – define shortcuts to run shell scripts.
- System commands – access to some fundamental system operations. (Reboot, Shutdown)
- Translate – translate words.
- URL module – open urls.
- Web search – quickly do a web search. It will open a URL, by inserting the query at a specific location.
- Windows – find open windows.
- Cross-platform support – runs under Linux and Windows.
