Obarun is an Arch based Linux distribution.
The goal of Obarun is to provide an alternative for people looking for more simplicity and transparency in maintaining their systems. Obarun is not designed with beginners to Linux in mind.
Obarun includes several changes, modifications, additions, in its effort to run reliably, without systemd and its byproducts.
It separates the init and service management from the rest of the system that should be chosen “freely” by the user/sys-admin. Instead of systemd, it uses s6 init software, a small suite of programs designed to allow process supervision (a.k.a service supervision), in the line of daemontools and runit, as well as various operations on processes and daemons.

What's a Linux distribution ("distro")? |
| A distro provides the user with a desktop environment, preloaded applications, and ways to update and maintain the system. Each distro makes different choices, deciding which open source projects to install and provides custom written programs. They can have different philosophies. Some distros are intended for desktop computers, some for servers without a graphical interface, and others for special uses. Because Linux is an open source operating system, combinations of software vary between Linux distros. |
I wish there were more distros that jettisoned systemd. Massive bloat.
I love that we have choices. Personally I feel systemd is pretty awesome and use distros with systemd without any qualms. But I recognise that some people really think it’s bad.
