Shallot – Qt-based file manager with plugin interface

Last Updated on September 1, 2020

Protocols

As previously mentioned, shallot can be run as a web application. Simply start the software with the command shallot –ui web. This lets the user manage their files with a web browser.

Shallot offers a basic mounting network service.

Right click the Windows Network, and you can choose from SSH/SFTP, WebDAV, Secure WebDAVS, FTP, FTPS, and Samba shares.

The image above shows an FTP connection in operation.

It’s not obvious how to add user credentials to connect to Samba shares. And network locations aren’t saved in the tree, but they are available from the bookmark icon. This area needs further work.

Re why you don’t like flatpak – I notice the screenshot indicates it’s pulling in an enormous chunk of KDE.
