Summary

Shallot is a respectable file manager but frankly it’s not ready for production use.

It certainly falls short of the best file managers. But there’s lots to like about it, and with further development, it will warrant a further examination.

Re why you don’t like flatpak – I notice the screenshot indicates it’s pulling in an enormous chunk of KDE.
