SongRec – open source Shazam client

Last Updated on August 11, 2021

Summary

Shazam is a fantastic service for anyone who listens to music. There’s nothing more annoying than hearing a new song not knowing the identity of the artist.

We think that SongRec is a useful open source alternative for accessing the online Shazam API. The software’s interface is fairly basic but works well. There’s support for WAV, MP3, OGG and FLAC files.

The program does have the tendency to detect multiple songs when the song hasn’t actually changed.

Once Apple acquired Shazam I lost interest in the service.
