Here’s an image of Spotube.
The user interface is clean, functional, but lacks polish. If you’re coming from the semi-official Spotify client, the interface looks comparatively clunky even if some aspects are well presented. For example, the album cover art is poorly managed when viewing an album/artist with the album cover/artist taking up too much screen estate on the desktop. There’s definitely room for improvement here for managing different window sizes.
The first thing we always check with a client for a streaming service is whether gapless playback is supported. The good news is that Spotube provides a competent implementation of gapless playback.
Gapless playback is the uninterrupted playback of consecutive audio tracks, such that relative time distances in the original audio source are preserved over track boundaries on playback. It’s an absolutely essential feature if you listen to classical, electronic music, concept albums, and progressive rock.
The different layout modes (adaptive, compact and extended) are useful.
