Festival – framework for building speech synthesis systems

Festival offers a full text to speech system with various APIs, as well an environment for development and research of speech synthesis techniques.

Praat Speech Analyser is “doing phonetics by computer”. Through its graphical interface, several speech analysis functionalities are available.

CMU Flite is a small, fast run-time open source text to speech synthesis engine primarily designed for small embedded machines and/or large servers.

eSpeak is a compact software speech synthesizer for English and other languages. It uses a formant synthesis method.
