Summary
Tartube is the best GUI for YouTube (and other sites) we’ve found. It offers a good range of features, highly configurable, has internationalization support, and even lets you access a media library with integrated search. Step away from a web browser.
Tartube can fetch a list of available video formats for a video, and fetch a list of available subtitles for a video.
The software is far from perfect though. There’s a fair few things we dislike. For example, when checking a channel, you cannot perform any other actions, such as downloading a video from a different channel. This can be frustrating if you’re checking a new channel offering a large number of videos. It can take a long time to check such a channel. It’s also too easy for the database to be locked.
Tartube is written in Python. If you’re looking to improve your knowledge of this language, check out our recommended free Python books and free Python tutorials.
