System Cleaning

Ubuntu Cleaner – Clean up your system

Ubuntu Cleaner is an open source system tool for Ubuntu and Debian based distributions. The software makes it easy to configure your system and desktop settings. It is a simple GUI tool that finds and removes cruft from your system.

Ubuntu Cleaner can free up disk space and remove private information from your computer.

This tool is based on Ubuntu Tweak, a tool that was depreciated because its developer was unable to maintain it. The developer of Ubuntu Cleaner pulled out the Computer Janitor module from Ubuntu Tweak, updated the tool and released it with a new name, Ubuntu Cleaner.

The software uses GTK+, a highly usable, feature rich toolkit for creating graphical user interfaces which boasts cross platform compatibility and an easy to use API.

Features include:

  • A very simple tool to use.
  • Provides a clean and easy to use graphical user interface.
  • Clear the browser cache for most major web browsers.
  • Clear the APT cache.
  • Clear the thumbnail cache.
  • Remove unneeded packages from the system.
  • Remove old kernels from the system. When a system is updated, an old kernel is not automatically removed. This tool lets you remove unnecessary old kernels.
  • Remove old installers from the system.
