zpotify – CLI for controlling Spotify playback

zpotify is a CLI for controlling Spotify playback and much more.

This is free and open source software.

You need a Spotify premium account.

Features include:

  • Available commands:
  • Print – display current track info in a specific format.
  • Search – search a track, playlist, album, or artist with a TUI.
  • Play – play a track, playlist, album, or artist from your library. If no arguments are provided, playback is resumed for the current device.
  • Pause – toggle pause state.
  • Prev – skip to previous track.
  • Next – skip to next track.
  • Repeat – get/set repeat mode
  • Shuffle – toggle shuffle mode or force it to a specific state.
  • Seek – get/set the position of the current track in seconds or minutes:seconds format.
  • Vol – get/set volume or increase/decrease volume by 10%.
  • Like – add the current track to your liked songs.
  • Devices – list all available devices.
  • Transfer – transfer playback to another device. The device can be the name or ID of an available device.
  • Waybar – display information about the current playback every second for use in a waybar module.
  • Logout – remove the stored credentials from the configuration file.
