In Operation
Here’s an image of HBud in action playing an album that’s published under a Creative Commons license.
The current version (0.4.0) doesn’t allow files to be added via drag and drop. Instead you need to click the folder icon (bottom left of the interface) and select a folder to be loaded. And the music tracks get jumbled up which is hopefully a simple bug to be fixed in the next release.
There’s the usual playback functionality including a shuffle mode.
The software also offers a simple way to edit the metadata of audio files.
We also tested the software’s capabilities playing videos. We like that we can seamlessly switch back and forth between video and audio playback with the software maintaining our position. Video performance is reasonable.
What else does HBud offer?
- Subtitle support.
- Karaoke mode (synced lyrics needed in own srt format).
- Static lyrics automatically retrieved from online sources: MusixMatch, AZLyrics and Letras.
- Playlists (from folder structure).
- Album cover support.
- Minimal mode.
- Minimalistic design.
